I am a floater for Camden so my job takes me from Chula Vista to Glendale California. One of my favorite places to work is at Camden Tuscany. It is located in Little Italy San Diego which is an area in downtown near the bay. What I love about this area is that it is in all of the action, but it also has a homey vibe to it. One of the biggest perks of working here is enjoying all of the things to do within walking distance to the community. Here are my top five things to do in Little Italy.
1. Restaurant hop: You cannot beat the restaurants on India Street in Little Italy. I don't think I have had a bad meal here once. Some of my favorites are Papallesco which is a coffee shop with the best gelato I have ever eaten (I’ve been to Italy). Ironside is a seafood restaurant and oyster bar with a large selection of craft beers and signature cocktails. Definitely try the chowder fries, they are to die for!
2.Visit local breweries: Prior to living in San Diego beer was not my thing but living in here has changed me. The craft beer in this city is amazing. Ballast Point brewery is one of my favorites. They have a grapefruit sculpin which is so refreshing on a hot day and their curry stout is a game changer that you must try!
3.Visit the Mercato farmers market: I work on Saturdays so one day before work I went to check out the farmers market. It is located directly outside of Camden Tuscany. Some of the vendors will be selling fish, cheese, local honey raw almonds, organic vegetables, fresh seasonal flowers and one of my favorites sells the best cheesecake I have ever eaten that is made in Carlsbad by his mother. You really must check out the Mercado Farmers market.
4.Relax in Waterfront Park: Waterfront Park is a great place to take the kids. It has swings, slides, a water play area with fountains to run under, and a grass area perfect for a picnic. It has amazing views of the bay as well!
5. Rent a sharenow: I was introduced to sharenow by a friend. You find an available car off the street using an app. Parking is included and you can park it almost anywhere plus it is cheaper than an uber. You will find these sharenow cars all over downtown because it’s no secret parking can be a challenge but most of all it is just fun to rent these little cars to take a spin around the city.
The next time you find yourself in San Diego check out the area of Little Italy. You will not be disappointed!
