Living at one of Camden’s luxurious apartment communities is one of the best decisions you could ever make. Our apartments include modern renovations and updated appliances, such as glass-top stoves. These stoves are true eye-catchers when apartment shopping, as they have sleek designs and appear to be easy to clean. Looks can be deceiving as these highly admired additions are notorious for being tough to clean! After preparing your favorite meals, you may notice a few tough stains on the range that a simple wipe down can’t remove. Don’t be discouraged, the original shine can be restored to your glass-top stove with this simple remedy using products you may already own.

Here are 8 easy steps to get those cook-tops back gleaming:

  1. Check Your Pantry

Locate white distilled vinegar, baking soda, a razor and cloth towels. These four products are the magic to restoring your glass cooktop.  Any brand of the combination can be used to get the desired results. These products can also be found a minimal cost!

  1. Let the Glass-top Cool Down

Never clean a cooktop while it is still hot! After cooking, make sure the range has cooled down fully and then begin the cleaning process. Once cooled, using a damp cloth wipe the surface with the distilled vinegar. For easier application, pour vinegar into a spray bottle and spray the vinegar on the range.

  1. Baking Soda Time!

Baking soda is also known as Sodium bicarbonate and the prime ingredient for getting your stove stain-free. Shake a nice amount of baking soda onto the cooktop surface. Make sure that the entire surface is covered.

  1. Wet a Towel

Take an old hand towel and wet it with water in the sink or in a cleaning bucket. Place the dampen towel onto the surface and allow the water to saturate the baking soda. This step gives you a little time to relax for about 20 minutes, while the stains loosen up.

  1. Scrub It!

After waiting 20 minutes, you can now scrub the surface with the towel. Make sure to rinse your towel throughout this process and scrub until all the baking soda is gone.  Continue to scrub until the surface is completely clean.

  1. Carefully Use your Razor

Burnt on food and sauces may require you to use this extra step. Be careful and scrape any remaining burnt food off the surface. Be careful using your blade by gently scraping each spot, to avoid harming yourself and glass surface.  The glass can be easily scratched if not done correctly.

  1. Polish and Shine

Take another damp towel and spray the surface with vinegar one more time for a final polish. Wipe down the surface then dry it with a dry towel.

  1. Admire your clean stove!

After you’re done, make sure you take the time to admire the final results. You will be pleased to see how your glass-top stove’s beauty has been restored!
