For the second year in a row, the team in Atlanta took over the Gateway Center in the heart of our city, to aid in it’s cause to help the homeless in Atlanta. Camden Cares allows us to take time away from our daily operations and give back to our community. How lucky are we?!

Camden Cares Quote

Gateway Center’s goal is to end homelessness, especially chronic homelessness, in the Metro Atlanta area. How do they accomplish such an insurmountable task? Through lots of hardworking and dedicated staff members, and community partners like Camden!

The Gateway Center houses over 300 men, and many different services. Programs like veteran services, Georgia Works!, and many more are all located in the same building.

Gateway Center’s philosophy:

“The Gateway Center philosophy rests on the guiding principle that homeless individuals can ultimately achieve permanent housing through their own dedicated efforts combined with a collaborative process built on a foundation of support from a skilled staff, intensive case management, and trained volunteers.”

So while the 100 + employees of the Camden Atlanta team can’t help Gateway Center end homelessness overnight, we can make an impact on the day to day life of the men living at and using the services Gateway offers.

On Wednesday, September 28th we took time away from our desks, tool belts and computers, pulled our work clothes on and headed into the heart of downtown Atlanta.

The Atlanta team split up into groups and took over the Gateway Center. We picked up trash and landscaped outside, painted the laundry room, locker rooms and a waiting area. We worked so quick that another group was formed and started painting a hallway too!
