Instead of going to a stuffy movie theatre with overpriced snacks, grab your favorite treats at home and head over to Market Square Park. This park is in the Downtown Historic District, right down the street from Camden Downtown and hosts FREE moving screenings at least twice a month!

Market Square Park also has fun events during the day, such as group workouts, music festivals, and game nights such as bingo! This a great place to go with friends, family, or even by yourself to make new friends if you’re new to the Houston area.

Take a Port of Houston Boat Tour

If you love bodies of water, then The Port of Houston Boat Tour is a must-do on this year’s Houston staycation. The boat tour takes off from EaDo (East of Downtown) and is a quick rideshare or Metrorail trip from Camden's downtown and midtown apartment communities (Camden Midtown, Camden McGowen Station, Camden Travis Street, Camden City Centre). Talk about local and easy to get to! The 90-minute boat trip tours individuals and groups around the Houston Ship Channel for an educational and fun experience. This is a daytime event for you to see an area of Houston you never knew you needed to see.

Take a Class or Visit The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft

Let’s give arts and crafts our full attention at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. This historic educational program allows those of all ages to do a fun FREE craft lead by instructors every first Saturday of the month. If you are new to the city, consider becoming a member with other Houstonians. This is a staycation activity that could turn into a place that gets you more friends and more fun!
